About Girl Blue:
Born in Bay Shore, New York, Arielle O’Keefe has been singing and writing songs since she could talk. She was called to the vocation of music from the very beginning, and has pursued it with passion for nearly her entire life. Arielle was a classical pianist starting at age 5 and a singer in the choir all through school. A relocation to Allen, Texas at age 15 brought her into the world of competitive choir, where she was placed in the Texas All-State Women’s Choir as a high school senior. Through all of these formative years, she was working and honing her skills as a burgeoning young songwriter, performing in any coffee house, sandwich shop, or talent show that would have her.
She released her first EP “The Music Box” at age 19, and shortly thereafter began to receive opportunities to perform. She was voted in to sing with Ingrid Michaelson as a contest winner in Boulder, Colorado. She developed a sizable following on her Youtube channel, performing covers and original songs. She was cast to participate in “The Voice” - Season 2, but all teams filled as she stood backstage waiting to audition. At 20 years old she was chosen to participate in the E! Network reality television show “Opening Act”, where she was given the opportunity to open for and perform with the one and only Rod Stewart at Caesar’s Palace.
She spent that year traveling back and forth between Los Angeles, Texas and New York, until she finally decided to relocate to New York City. She worked as a nanny and a top-line songwriter for Universal and Warner Chappell. After about two years of this, she moved upstate to Albany, New York to work on independently recording an album of her original music with a couple of friends.
“Girl Blue” began in Albany during the recording process for the “I Am Not a Star” EP. Fate intervened here, and the first single “Fire Under Water” was plucked from obscurity and placed in the #7 slot on Spotify’s “New Music Friday” playlist. Suddenly this ‘brand new’ artist was sitting between Alicia Keys and Lady Gaga on perhaps the biggest discovery playlist of the moment. The song charted on Spotify’s Viral Charts in the US, UK, Canada and globally. It received 1 million streams in less than a month.
The entire EP performed incredibly well and many opportunities arose for Girl Blue. Later that year, fate struck again and Girl Blue’s cover of the Fleetwood Mac song “Dreams” was placed on “New Music Friday” and reached #2 on the US Viral Charts. Since then, Girl Blue has received many opportunities to travel, perform, and see her songs placed in international commercials, television shows, radio shows, and advertisements. She has gotten to open for acts like Dar Williams, Sean Rowe, Mikaela Davis, and the late Justin Townes Earle.
Over the years, she has been awarded 7 Thomas Edison Capital Region Music Awards, twice receiving Songwriter of the Year and Solo/Duo Act of the Year. Her likeness is framed in the Hall of Fame at Universal Preservation Hall in Saratoga Springs, New York. She has maintained a thriving Patreon community for the last several years, and spends her time now living her childhood dream — performing, writing, recording her music in her home studio with her partner/producer Jimi W., and interacting with her community of fans. She is currently working on a new EP, to be released independently in the summer of 2023.
